Patricio Guzmán Campos
Patricio Guzmán Campos was a Chilean photographer, documentary filmmaker and cinematographer with a long international career. He portrayed the reality of Chile from 1958 to 1973 through photography and film. During the 60's he became a key collaborator to filmmaker Joris Ivens in the multiple films he made in Chile during the early 60's, which were produced by the Center of Experimental Film of the University of Chile and Argos Films. In 1974, after the coup, he went into exile in Hungary. In 1980 he emigrated to Canada, the country where he eventually passed away in 2014. Part of his career was linked to the Chilean singer-songwriter Víctor Jara, whom he photographed on various occasions. He is considered to be one of the greatest figures of Chilean social photography.
